Ghost London - Tom Fuller

At Ghost London, it's all in the detail.

Touker Suleyman, ‘Dragons Den’ investor and owner of retail brand Ghost, invited Tom and his team to Turkey to document Ghost’s garment dying process up close and in detail.

A nimble crew of three, they took an Arri with a few lenses and a single light which was low power enough to plug into any socket in the factory.

With four days to shoot, they were given the run of the whole factory and were able to spend the time finding the beauty in what was otherwise a visually industrial space.

Using predominantly longer lenses and slow motion, they managed to make the machines look like they were dancing and flowing - and bring focus to abstract textures and movement with little splashes of human touch.

The post production was very straightforward, though they had that nice-to-have issue of having too much beautiful content, so deciding what to cut was the trickiest part!

The music was composed to compliment the visuals, opting for plucked strings to match the fabric threads in the visuals.

The clients ended up having a series of frames from the project printed by an art printer to hang on the walls – and they’re still using the video to this day.
