Black Childish teamed up with Omek to promote their five day hybrid cultural festival on African Day. Founded in 2019, Omek is a community-based network designed to make connection and collaboration simple for the African diaspora professionals and their allies, based in Amsterdam and further afield.
Using the festival's vision to empower the African diaspora through music, Black Childish directed & animated the central event designs.
The 'Calabash' motif played a central role in the project. A Calabash symbolises nourishment, an item passed from generation to generation, with a rich culture embedded into the the unique engravings and colourful patterns.
Black Childish's joyful animation and vibrant colour palette are complimented by the rhythmic compositions.
