Working with the team at O.P.I, Eva crafted elevated 3d animated worlds around their energising new nail polish shades that combine some of their iconic fan favourites, bringing them to vivid life in her joyful design style.
Directing and animating a campaign film alongside illustrated assets to be used across channels and packaging, Eva tapped into the tongue-in-cheek brand language and infused it with her playful style.
For their Spring colour collection, O.P.I launched new colours that combined cult-classic shades like ‘bubble bath’ and ‘funny bunny’ to create new shades, and wanted to explore this through bespoke animation, creating visual worlds for each new shade.
Working with the global beauty brand, Eva approached this project from a high-end angle for a very polished overall look. Keeping the central focus on the product itself, Eva filled the animations with nods to the best-selling shades that are combining into the new colour, to create an immediate understanding of the newly released shade name.
The finish was crafted to be lustrous and luxe, with tactile textures that mimic the high-shine of the product and the inspirations for the shades, but with an unmistakably Eva visual language and a smooth fluidity from beginning to end.
Beginning the project with initial sketches, Eva centred the iconic O.P.I bottle shape to ground her compositions and set about designing the motifs that would accompany the product, which needed to subtly nod to the name of the shade without being too literal, so ‘Bubble Bunny’ became a soft, translucent world with inviting fuzziness, ensuring the design stayed at a mature level without compromising on fun.
