Tasked with communicating not only the football theme but the subjects explored by WIRED in this series including AI, ticketing, referee body cameras and the technology shaping the fan experience.
Approach
Tackling complex subjects that had the potential to veer into overly technical, Cristian leaned into his surreal and colour saturated style to craft a visual language that tied the stories together as an editorial series while remaining individually easy to understand and engage-with.
Design
Applying his signature collage-style to the illustrations, Cristian played with perspective and scale to explore the various topics. Designing compositions that are initially playful but layered with meaning and deeper context, Cristian’s vibrant style brings a dynamic liveliness to the series.
