Bringing to life an explosive film celebrating the legacy of football club Real Madrid, Clubcamping jumped at the chance to work with two major brands and expand their style into more anime-led visuals. Directed by 2veinte, a requirement of the film was to focus on French footballer Karim Benzema, with accurate yet stylised depictions of the official team kit and many cameos from fellow club legends.
Aiming to showcase the shared culture between Real Madrid and its fans, the film features three teenagers who are destined to come together to take part in a match against supernatural forces in the club’s iconic stadium, Santiago Bernabéu.
Telling a story of teamwork, determination and celebrating the winning mindset that has led to many Real Madrid victories, the film is a huge production that allowed Clubcamping to push their creative practice to new heights.
When it came to the overall design language of the animation, Clubcamping explored how to craft the characters in a style previously unexplored to them, working out a way to combine the traditional elements of the anime style with their signature passion for powerful and unique characters.
When it came to the backgrounds of the scenes, great attention to detail was paid to the key elements to be featured within the film, primarily the club branding, merchandise and brand product placement. Crafting stylised versions of real-life suburban areas and the arena itself, Clubcamping used matte painting for realism combined with the heavy glow and defocus of the camera movements for more impactful cinematography.
