Celebrating legendary racing driver Pedro Rodriguez, Clubcamping teamed up with Porsche and The Community to bring his story to life. Animating such a significant tale to racing fans worldwide, Clubcamping were given a lot of creative freedom to explore how to craft a story true to Rodriguez and the iconic Porsche 917K.
Diving into the story of Pedro, Clubcamping explored his beginnings in Mexico City, to becoming a champion racing driver, all while proudly representing his country and heritage. Designing the film to work across social channels, the film is electric and fast-paced with Clubcamping’s signature energetic design style.
Knowing that the Porsche had to be exact even in 2D, Clubcamping went about animating frame by frame, using a 3D model to ensure the details were precise and true to life. Drawing inspiration from ‘60s and ‘70s graphic design, films, cartoons, and TV to illustrate Pedro’s world, the film is Speed Racer meets Akira.
Embracing the fast pace and spontaneity of the film, Clubcamping jumped between After Effects, Animate, Photoshop, and C4D, crafting a vibrant film packed with action and energy, a perfect tribute.
