Google Doodle: India Independence Day

Combining craft, culture, heritage and pride Bomranng designed a Google Doodle for India’s 79th Independence Day. A vibrant celebration of India's heritage and its historic achievements Boomranng encompassed the India they love in a deeply meaningful and layered design.

Brief

The brief called for a celebratory design for the 79th India Independence Day bringing to life historic national achievements and looking towards a vibrant future. Passionate about telling stories from their home country, Boomranng were honoured to have the opportunity to represent their culture in their maximalist and optimistic design style.

Design

Taking inspiration from iconic examples of Indian art, traditional tiles, Boomranng pulled from diverse regions such as Jaipur blue pottery from Rajasthan, to terracotta relief style from West Bengal. Alongside these tributes, each tile represents a national achievement from space exploration, to sport and cinema, all woven together in a beautiful array of colours and textures.
