Charlie Toque animates how Pop Tarts brings the fun with vibrant 2d animation.

How do you take one of the most recognisable snack foods and transform it into an entertainment brand of its own? By asking Charlie Toque of course!

Working with Leo Burnett and tasked with bringing to life a narrative that encourages people to embrace their silly side and get ‘Popified’ Charlie worked with the Pop Tart team to show how to bring joy to the mundane and make it colourful, sweet and endlessly fun.

Brief

With the aim of showcasing the broredom-busting power of Pop Tarts, Charlie set the scene in a drab lecture hall and transformed it into a crazy party. Crafting a campaign that establishes Pop Tarts as a vibrant entertainment Brand is a challenge that jumped at the chance to experiment with, developing a fast paced two-part narrative with a deliberate high contrast between the two scenes.

Design

Drawing inspiration from retro cartoons and iconic 2d worlds, Charlie approached the brief with a passion for character design, breathing life into every expression and movement. With a short time span and a lot to cover within it, Charlie used several techniques to create a visually engaging and energetic film, playing with saturation, transition effects and sound to develop a fully realised world in fifteen seconds.
