Hosono House
Intimate and evolving animations celebrating the legendary Japanese musician.
Alexis was invited to craft five mixed media animated loops for legendary musician Haruomi Hosono inspired by the intimate tone of the album Hosono House.
Brief
A musician who is credited with shaping the sound of Japanese pop for decades, the album was recorded in Hosono’s bedroom, creating an unprocessed and distinctive sound. Driven to evoke this feeling within his animations, Alexis combined organic shapes, textures and materials to create his five visualisers.
Drawn to projects that allow him to explore and uncover new facets of his design style, Alexis is passionate about crafting work that has a deeper meaning and allows for individual interpretations by the viewer, combining familiar and unexpected techniques to create otherworldly compositions.
Design
Avoiding literal interpretations of the lyrics, Alexis approached this project with his signature poetic fluidity, designing pieces that evolve and immerse the viewer with subtle movements, textural touch points and emotional resonance.
